Grilled Onions

I made this recipe for the first time the other night when we decided we would only eat "grill food". It's too hot to use the stove/oven! Although the recipe says to cook for one hour on indirect heat, that was not nearly enough time. Perhaps less indirect, and more direct would be a good combination. We microwaved them the rest of the way and it was absolutely delicious!

Grilled Onions

Enjoy. I can't wait to make these again.

Did you use all the butter? What I have learned for onions like this is that you have to use a lot of fat to give it that carmerlization.

Our neighbor is going to put in an outdoor kitchen because they hate the how hot their house gets. They are going to tile their patio and put in an outdoor oven!!

Wirrek - I used a teeny amount of butter on one onion and the full amount on the other. The only obvious difference was that the bullion didn't dissolve as well in the teeny butter one until I chopped up the onion and used all of its juices. I also used bullion powder, not cubes, because I anticipated that problem.
