End of October

Well, it is the end of another challenge. This one seemed to really pick up steam in the last week here. Thanks for the great idea, Robin!

Just a reminder, in November, we will be cooking from Hot, Sour, Salty, Sweet by Jeffery Alfred. I have already made my Thai Fish Sauce with Hot Chilis. It smells terrible! ;)

Can't wait for the challenge. I'm making my thai store run today and I think I'm going to use this month as an excuse to buy a mortar and pestle for the sauces and marinades!

I had the same thought about a mortar and pestle! I need to find a Thai store. The whole foods that is 45 minutes away is pretty sad. Maybe I will make a pilgramage to Harry's Farmers Market in Atlanta!

I bought a large one at the Asian store for $20. It weighs a ton but I love it. If you don't want to spring for one a food processor. Then again you won't get those arms of steel!

The fish sauce smells terrible but really enhances food. Same with shrimp paste which I think smells 10 times worse. If I have to cook shrimp paste I wrap it in foil and cook it on the grill.
